VIBRANT CLASSICAL WAS HELD BACK IN A PHYSICAL FORMAT ON JULY 16, 2022 – PRODUCED BY COMMUNITY ARTS COUNCIL OF CANADA @ LESTER B PEARSON THEATRE BRAMPTON
In 2020 , we saw the need of a platform where local musicians and dancers from the Classical genre can showcase their talent and allow this form of music and dance to reach the masses. We couldn’t let the pandemic stand in our way and we took the show online for the past two years.
“Classical Music and Dance has always aimed for the “classes” and not the “masses” But our goal is to let the masses to experience & enjoy the class of this genre. It is the purpose of this festival to allow classical music and dance to reach as many ears & touch as many lives as we can” Said Sanjay Rangnekar, curator of the festival
Finally this year we could actualise that dream to hold our first in person Vibrant Classical Festival. Hundreds of classical music and dance enthusiasts attended the festival to a full house at the Lester B Pearson Theatre in Brampton, Ontario. Over 20 classical artists representing different genres performed at the festival. The festival was sponsored by our presenting sponsor TD Bank in association with Downtown Brampton BIA, Lazeez Shawarma and Hello Fresh.
We had a bouquet of different art forms this year to keep the audience stuck to their chairs- from Opera singers to Indian Classical Vocalists, from Odissi dance to a unique and rare fusion of Kathak and Bharat Natyam with Western Contemporary, from Chinese String ensemble to eclectic fusion Indian Baansuri (Flute) with Balkan and Flamenco Guitar, a cello and accompanied by the Indian Tabla… we had it all jampacked into this concert that turned out to be a musical extravaganza. It will be surely to stay in the memory of the audience in years to come.
